Resize Image to 1200x1200 (1200 x 1200 Pixels)

1200×1200 pixels is a high-resolution square that covers several important rules at once. Amazon enables its zoom feature for images of at least 1000 px on the longest side, LinkedIn recommends 1200 × 1200 for square image posts, and it is the maximum size of a digital US passport photo. At 300 DPI it also prints at 10.2 cm (4 in): enough for small photo prints and product cards.

A 1200 × 1200 image holds 1,440,000 pixels (1.44 MP). Saved as a JPG at the default 90% quality, a typical photo at this size weighs roughly 250 to 560 KB; logos and flat graphics are usually lighter. In print, 1200 pixels span 4 in (10.2 cm) at 300 DPI, or 8 in (20.3 cm) at 150 DPI.

• Amazon, Etsy and Shopify product photos: above Amazon's 1000 px zoom threshold.
• LinkedIn square posts: the recommended 1200 × 1200 size for image posts.
• Passport and ID photos: the upper limit (600 to 1200 px) for digital US passport photos.
• Small prints: about 10.2 cm square at 300 DPI.

How to resize an image to 1200 × 1200 pixels

Turning a non-square photo into 1200 × 1200

Phone and camera photos are usually 4:3 or 3:2, so a square needs a decision. Take a 4000 × 3000 shot: Crop to fill scales it to 1600 × 1200 and trims about 200 px from the left and right edges. Fit with background keeps the whole picture at 1200 × 900 and fills 150 px above and below with white, black, grey, any colour or transparency (PNG, WebP, AVIF). Stretch squeezes it to 1200 × 1200, which distorts faces, so keep it for images that are almost square already. Tips for 1200 × 1200 images

• Amazon's main image must be on a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255): choose Fit with background → white when the product does not fill the frame.
• The product should fill about 85% of the frame for marketplaces; crop tight with the Center position.
• For print, set 300 DPI under More options so the file opens at the right physical size.
