3440 x 1440 pixels: uses, aspect ratio and how to resize
What is 3440×1440 (UWQHD 21:9 ultrawide)?
3440 × 1440 is UWQHD (ultrawide quad HD), the resolution of most 34-inch ultrawide monitors. It is marketed as 21:9, although the exact ratio is 43:18, about 2.39:1. It has the same height as 1440p but 880 more columns, 4.95 megapixels in total, which is why gamers, video editors and traders like it: a very wide canvas without a bezel in the middle.
At a glance: 3440 × 1440 pixels, aspect ratio 21:9, 4,953,600 pixels in total (about 4.95 megapixels). The tool opens with exactly this size preset and the Crop to fill mode selected, so most images need no extra settings.
How to resize an image to 3440×1440
- Add your images. Drop them on the upload area, click to choose files or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG are accepted, many files at once (up to 80 MB each).
- Check the framing. The size is preset to 3440 × 1440 with Crop to fill: the frame is filled edge to edge and whatever does not fit is trimmed. Use Keep (center, top, bottom, left or right) to choose which part survives, or switch to Fit with background or Stretch.
- Pick format and quality. Keep the original format or convert to JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. The quality slider starts at 90%; alternatively set a Target size in KB and the tool lowers only the quality, never the 3440×1440 dimensions.
- Compare. Drag the before/after slider across the preview to check sharpness and framing.
- Download. Save each image, or click Download all (ZIP) for a batch. Files are named name-3440x1440 automatically; the pattern and a DPI value can be changed under More options.

Images with a different aspect ratio
Ultrawide is much wider than a normal photo, so the page starts in Crop to fill. A 16:9 image keeps its full width but loses a quarter of its height; a 4:3 photo loses almost half. Use Keep: top for skies and mountains or bottom for foreground subjects. Fit with background keeps the whole image with wide side bars. For example, a 4:3 phone photo (4032 × 3024) set to 3440×1440 with Crop to fill loses about 44% of its height (top and bottom edges); with Fit with background it becomes 1920 × 1440 px with bars of about 760 px on the left and right.
Tips for a sharp 3440×1440 result
Panoramas are the best sources: a phone panorama or a wide landscape crop already has the right shape and enough pixels. A 4032-pixel-wide phone photo is enlarged only slightly to reach 3440 px wide, but its height is then heavily cropped, so choose pictures with a strong horizontal composition. Save as JPG at 90% (usually 1 to 3 MB).
Free, private and made for batches
Everything happens in your browser: your images are never uploaded, location and camera data (EXIF) are removed from every result, and there is no sign-up, watermark or daily limit. Need a neighbouring size? Try 5120×1440 or 2560×1440; the custom image resizer handles any other width and height, and the image compressor shrinks the file further if a website or email still rejects it.

Frequently asked questions
Is 3440x1440 really 21:9?
It is marketed as 21:9, but the exact ratio is 43:18, about 2.39:1. 2560 × 1080 ultrawide screens are closer to 2.37:1.
How do I make a normal photo into an ultrawide wallpaper?
Drop it here in Crop to fill mode. The photo fills 3440 × 1440 and the top and bottom are trimmed; use Keep top, center or bottom to choose the visible strip.
What wallpaper size fits a 34-inch ultrawide monitor?
Most 34-inch ultrawide monitors are 3440 × 1440, so resize wallpapers to exactly that size. Some cheaper models are 2560 × 1080, which you can set with the custom resizer.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Resizing to 3440×1440 happens entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device. Location and camera data (EXIF) are also removed from the output.
Can I resize many images to 3440×1440 at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like: each one is resized to 3440×1440 with the same settings, and Download all saves them together as a ZIP file.
How do I convert an image to 3440x1440?
Drop the image on this page: the size is already set to 3440 x 1440. Choose Crop to fill to cover the whole screen, or Fit with background to keep the full picture with bands at the sides, then download. Nothing is uploaded.
What is the difference between 3440x1440 and 1440x3440?
They hold the same number of pixels, but 3440x1440 is landscape and 1440x3440 is the same frame turned on its side. This page always outputs 3440 × 1440; for 1440 × 3440, enter the size in the custom size resizer.
How do I set my monitor to 3440x1440?
On Windows open Settings, System, Display and choose 3440 × 1440 under Display resolution. On a Mac open System Settings, Displays and pick the native resolution. If 3440 × 1440 is missing, update the graphics driver and use DisplayPort or a cable that supports the full resolution.
Can I downscale a 5120x1440 or 4K image to 3440x1440?
Yes. A 3840 × 2160 image is reduced in width and cropped at the top and bottom, and a 5120 × 1440 image keeps its height and is cropped at the sides. Downscaling keeps the result sharp, so larger sources are the best starting point.
