2560 x 1440 pixels: uses, aspect ratio and how to resize
What is 2560×1440 (QHD 1440p)?
2560 × 1440 is QHD (quad HD), also called WQHD or 1440p: four times the pixels of 720p, about 3.7 megapixels. It is the favourite resolution of 27-inch monitors and gaming displays, the native screen of the 27-inch iMac before its Retina version, and the resolution of many flagship phones held sideways. In shops and forums it is often sold as “2K”, although that label is informal.
At a glance: 2560 × 1440 pixels, aspect ratio 16:9, 3,686,400 pixels in total (about 3.69 megapixels). The tool opens with exactly this size preset and the Crop to fill mode selected, so most images need no extra settings.
How to resize an image to 2560×1440
- Add your images. Drop them on the upload area, click to choose files or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG are accepted, many files at once (up to 80 MB each).
- Check the framing. The size is preset to 2560 × 1440 with Crop to fill: the frame is filled edge to edge and whatever does not fit is trimmed. Use Keep (center, top, bottom, left or right) to choose which part survives, or switch to Fit with background or Stretch.
- Pick format and quality. Keep the original format or convert to JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. The quality slider starts at 90%; alternatively set a Target size in KB and the tool lowers only the quality, never the 2560×1440 dimensions.
- Compare. Drag the before/after slider across the preview to check sharpness and framing.
- Download. Save each image, or click Download all (ZIP) for a batch. Files are named name-2560x1440 automatically; the pattern and a DPI value can be changed under More options.

Images with a different aspect ratio
Starting in Crop to fill, a 16:9 image covers 2560 × 1440 perfectly. 4:3 phone photos lose some top and bottom, and portrait photos far more, so use Keep: top or bottom to steer the crop, or switch to Fit with background for bars. For example, a 4:3 phone photo (4032 × 3024) set to 2560×1440 with Crop to fill loses about 25% of its height (top and bottom edges); with Fit with background it becomes 1920 × 1440 px with bars of about 320 px on the left and right.
Tips for a sharp 2560×1440 result
A Full HD picture enlarged to 1440p is scaled by 1.33× and looks softer on a 27-inch screen, so use a 12-megapixel or larger photo when you can. Wallpapers are viewed full screen, so JPG at 90% (usually 0.8 to 2 MB) is a sensible choice; for the web, WebP cuts that roughly in half. Download all packs a whole wallpaper set as ZIP.
Free, private and made for batches
Everything happens in your browser: your images are never uploaded, location and camera data (EXIF) are removed from every result, and there is no sign-up, watermark or daily limit. Need a neighbouring size? Try 3840×2160 or 3440×1440; the 16:9 image resizer keeps any picture in the same proportions at a size you choose, and the image compressor shrinks the file further if a website or email still rejects it.

Frequently asked questions
Is 2560x1440 2K or 4K?
Neither officially. It is QHD or 1440p; it is marketed as 2K by some brands, while 4K UHD is 3840 × 2160, 2.25 times as many pixels.
What is the difference between QHD and WQHD?
Both usually mean 2560 × 1440 at 16:9. The W for widescreen was added to separate it from older 4:3 resolutions.
Will a 1080p wallpaper look good at 2560x1440?
It will fill the screen but look slightly soft, since it is enlarged by 1.33×. For a crisp result start from an original that is at least 2560 px wide.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Resizing to 2560×1440 happens entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device. Location and camera data (EXIF) are also removed from the output.
Can I resize many images to 2560×1440 at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like: each one is resized to 2560×1440 with the same settings, and Download all saves them together as a ZIP file.
What aspect ratio is 2560 x 1440?
2560 x 1440 pixels has an aspect ratio of 16:9, so the width is 1.78 times the height.
What is the difference between 2560x1440 and 1440x2560?
They hold the same number of pixels, but 2560x1440 is landscape and 1440x2560 is the same frame turned on its side. This page always outputs 2560 × 1440; for 1440 × 2560, enter the size in the custom size resizer.
