How to resize a photo to 300x300 online
300×300 pixels is one of the most requested square sizes on the web. WordPress creates a 300 × 300 "medium" copy of every upload by default, many shop themes show product cards at about 300 px, and a lot of job portals, school systems and membership sites ask for a 300 × 300 profile photo. It is also a safe minimum for profile pictures on social networks that display them at 100 to 200 px.
A 300 × 300 image holds 90,000 pixels (0.09 MP). Saved as a JPG at the default 90% quality, a typical photo at this size weighs roughly 15 to 35 KB; logos and flat graphics are usually lighter. In print, 300 pixels span 1 in (2.5 cm) at 300 DPI, or 2 in (5.1 cm) at 150 DPI.
What 300 × 300 pixels is used for
- WordPress medium size: matches the default medium image (300 × 300 max) used in posts and galleries.
- Profile photos on forms: job portals, school, exam and membership sites that ask for a 300 × 300 photo.
- Product cards: category grids and "you may also like" blocks in online shops.
- Spotify and podcast tools: a safe minimum for playlist covers and small cover thumbnails.
How to resize an image to 300 × 300 pixels
- Drop your images on the box, click to choose them, or paste one with Ctrl+V (JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG; up to 80 MB each).
- The size is preset to 300 × 300 px with Crop to fill; choose which part to keep (center, top, bottom, left or right) or switch to Fit with background or Stretch.
- Pick the format: Original, JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF (in browsers that can encode it), and set the quality, or switch to Target size and enter a limit in KB.
- Drag the before/after slider on the preview; every change is re-rendered live.
- Click Download, or Download all (ZIP) for several files, named like photo-300x300.jpg.
Turning a non-square photo into 300 × 300
Phone and camera photos are usually 4:3 or 3:2, so a square needs a decision. Take a 4000 × 3000 shot: Crop to fill scales it to 400 × 300 and trims about 50 px from the left and right edges. Fit with background keeps the whole picture at 300 × 225 and fills 38 px above and below with white, black, grey, any colour or transparency (PNG, WebP, AVIF). Stretch squeezes it to 300 × 300, which distorts faces, so keep it for images that are almost square already. With Fit, the Don't enlarge smaller images option centres a small source at its own size instead of blowing it up.
Tips for 300 × 300 images
- Use the Top position for head-and-shoulders portraits so the crop never cuts off the head.
- If the site shows the photo in a circle, keep the face in the middle third: the corners are hidden.
- Forms that ask for 300 × 300 often limit the file to 50 to 100 KB too; Target size handles both at once.
Everything runs in your browser: images are never uploaded, and there is no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of files. Under More options you can write a DPI value into JPG and PNG files or change the file-name pattern, and location and camera data (EXIF) are always removed. Frequently asked questions
What is a 300x300 image used for?
Profile pictures on forms and websites, WordPress medium images, product cards in shops and small cover thumbnails.
Is 300x300 good for a profile picture?
Yes for most websites and forms. For X or LinkedIn, upload 400 × 400; for YouTube channel icons, 800 × 800.
How many KB is a 300x300 photo?
Roughly 15 to 35 KB as a JPG at 90% quality. Use Target size if a form requires a smaller file.
How do I resize a photo to 300x300 without cropping it?
Choose Fit with background. The whole photo is scaled to fit inside 300 × 300 px and the empty space is filled with a colour you choose, or left transparent when you save as PNG, WebP or AVIF.
What size is 300x300 pixels in inches or cm?
At 300 DPI it prints at 1 × 1 in (2.5 × 2.5 cm); at 150 DPI at 2 × 2 in (5.1 cm). On screen only pixels count; DPI matters for printing and can be set under More options.
Can I resize multiple images to 300x300 at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like (they all get the same settings) then download them one by one or together as a ZIP file.
