How to convert SVG to PNG online

Many apps, social networks and document editors cannot use SVG files. This converter renders your SVG logos, icons and illustrations into PNG images with a transparent background, at the size you need, right in your browser.

What is a SVG file?

SVG is a vector format written in XML: shapes, paths and text are described mathematically instead of as pixels. SVG files are usually tiny and can be styled and animated with CSS and JavaScript. Browsers display SVG, but many apps, social networks, email clients, office programs and upload forms accept only raster images such as PNG or JPG. An SVG can reference external fonts or images that are not available when the file is opened somewhere else.

Why choose PNG?

PNG is a lossless format: pixels are stored exactly, so text, lines and flat colours stay razor-sharp. A PNG does not lose quality when it is saved again, which makes it a good working copy for editing. Choose PNG for graphics with sharp edges, few colours or transparency, and whenever exact pixels matter. PNG supports full alpha transparency, which is why logos, icons, interface elements and cut-outs are usually saved as PNG.

What changes when you convert SVG to PNG

Converting to PNG rasterises the vector: shapes become a fixed grid of pixels. The tool renders the SVG at the size written in its width and height attributes, falls back to its viewBox, and uses 1024 pixels when no size is defined. To get a larger, sharper PNG, open Resize and choose a percentage such as 200% or 400%, or enter an exact width and height (untick Don't enlarge smaller images). Transparent areas stay transparent. Because the SVG is drawn as an image, external fonts and linked images inside it are not loaded, so text should use system fonts or be converted to outlines first.

How to convert SVG to PNG

  1. Drop your SVG files onto the upload area, click to browse, or paste an image with Ctrl+V. You can add many files at once, up to 80 MB each.
  2. In Convert to, PNG is already selected; you can switch between JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF at any time and the preview updates instantly.
  3. Set the Quality: 100% writes a lossless PNG with every pixel kept, while lower values (the default is 90%) apply smart palette compression with 256 colours or fewer, which keeps transparency and makes the file smaller.
  4. Transparency is kept automatically in the PNG output, so logos and cut-outs stay transparent.
  5. If needed, open Resize (exact size, maximum size or percentage) and More options for a DPI value and a file-name pattern.
  6. Compare the original and the result with the before/after slider, then download each file or click Download all (ZIP).

Tips for the best result

  • For crisp results on high-density screens, export at twice the display size, for example a 200 px logo at 400 px.
  • Need a solid background instead of transparency? Switch Convert to JPG and pick a background colour.
  • Making a favicon? Try the favicon generator; to shrink the PNG for the web, use PNG to WebP.
  • Location and camera details (EXIF) are removed from every converted file, so the results are safe to post publicly.

Private, free and fast

The conversion runs entirely on your device: your browser reads the SVG images, draws them on a canvas and encodes the PNG files locally. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so private photos and client work stay on your computer. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit, and settings changes are applied live to every file in the list.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert SVG to a high-resolution PNG?

Open Resize and choose a percentage like 200% or 400%, or set an exact width and height. The vector is drawn at that size.

Does SVG to PNG keep the transparent background?

Yes. Transparent areas of the SVG stay transparent in the PNG.

Why does the text in my PNG look different?

External or web fonts referenced by the SVG are not loaded during conversion. Convert text to outlines in your design tool before exporting.

What size is the PNG if my SVG has no size?

The tool uses the SVG's width and height, then its viewBox, and 1024 pixels when neither is defined.

Are my SVG files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens in your browser on your own device, so your images never leave your computer. EXIF location and camera data are also removed from the results.

Can I convert several SVG files at once?

Yes. Select or drop as many files as you like (up to 80 MB each); they are all converted with the same settings and you can download them one by one or together as a ZIP file.
