How to convert PNG to JPG online
Convert PNG images to JPG when you need smaller files or a format that every form, printer and app accepts. The tool handles transparent PNGs properly by letting you choose the colour that fills the see-through areas, so logos and cut-outs do not turn black or look odd.
What is a PNG file?
PNG is a lossless format: pixels are stored exactly, so text, lines and flat colours stay razor-sharp. PNG supports full alpha transparency, which is why logos, icons, interface elements and cut-outs are usually saved as PNG. PNG files of photographs are large, often three to ten times bigger than a good JPG of the same picture. Every browser, operating system and image editor reads PNG, so it is a safe exchange format.
Why choose JPG?
JPG (also written JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format: every browser, phone, camera, printer, email client and editing app opens it. Each time a JPG is edited and saved again a little more quality is lost, so keep an original if you plan further edits. At 80 to 90% quality a JPG photo usually looks identical to the original at a fraction of the size of a PNG or TIFF. JPG is the safe choice for photos you upload to forms, marketplaces, email attachments or older software.
What changes when you convert PNG to JPG
JPG has no transparency, so every transparent or semi-transparent pixel of the PNG is blended onto a solid background colour. White is preselected; one click switches to black or light grey, and the colour picker lets you match any brand or slide colour. The image is then compressed with lossy JPG encoding at 90% quality by default, which makes photos saved as PNG dramatically smaller, often by 70 to 90%. Sharp text and flat graphics can show slight halos in JPG, so check those in the before/after view.
How to convert PNG to JPG
- Drop your PNG files onto the upload area, click to browse, or paste an image with Ctrl+V. You can add many files at once, up to 80 MB each.
- In Convert to, JPG is already selected; you can switch between JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF at any time and the preview updates instantly.
- Adjust the Quality slider (default 90%) or switch to Target size and enter a limit in KB; the tool then finds the highest quality that fits.
- Pick the Background colour for transparent areas: white, black, light grey or any colour from the picker.
- If needed, open Resize (exact size, maximum size or percentage) and More options for a DPI value and a file-name pattern.
- Compare the original and the result with the before/after slider, then download each file or click Download all (ZIP).
Tips for the best result
- Match the background to where the image will appear, for example the exact colour of your slide or web page, to avoid visible boxes around a logo.
- Screenshots with small text look best at 90 to 100% quality; photos are fine at 75 to 85%.
- Want small files but keep transparency? Use PNG to WebP; to go back to PNG use JPG to PNG.
- Location and camera details (EXIF) are removed from every converted file, so the results are safe to post publicly.
Private, free and fast
The conversion runs entirely on your device: your browser reads the PNG images, draws them on a canvas and encodes the JPG files locally. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so private photos and client work stay on your computer. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit, and settings changes are applied live to every file in the list.

Frequently asked questions
What happens to transparency when converting PNG to JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick: white by default, or black, light grey or any custom colour.
Why does my converted logo have a black background elsewhere?
Some converters fill transparency with black. Here you choose the fill colour, and white is the default.
Does PNG to JPG reduce quality?
JPG is lossy, but at 85 to 90% quality photos look the same. Very sharp text or line art may show slight artefacts.
How do I make a JPG under a certain size?
Switch the quality control to Target size and enter a limit in KB; the tool finds the highest quality that fits.
Are my PNG files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion happens in your browser on your own device, so your images never leave your computer. EXIF location and camera data are also removed from the results.
Can I convert several PNG files at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many files as you like (up to 80 MB each); they are all converted with the same settings and you can download them one by one or together as a ZIP file.
