How to convert HEIC to JPG online
iPhones save photos as HEIC to save space, but that format still causes trouble on Windows PCs, Android phones and countless upload forms. This converter turns HEIC and HEIF photos into ordinary JPG files right in your browser, so your pictures open everywhere without installing anything.
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container, a variant of HEIF) has been the default camera format on iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. iOS converts photos automatically in some sharing paths, but files copied by cable, cloud sync or AirDrop to a Mac often stay HEIC. Converting to JPG is the simplest way to make iPhone photos open everywhere. HEIC uses HEVC (H.265) compression and stores photos at roughly half the size of an equivalent JPG.
Why choose JPG?
JPG (also written JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format: every browser, phone, camera, printer, email client and editing app opens it. JPG uses lossy compression that throws away fine detail the eye barely notices, which keeps photographs small. JPG has no transparency channel, so any transparent area has to be filled with a solid colour. Each time a JPG is edited and saved again a little more quality is lost, so keep an original if you plan further edits.
What changes when you convert HEIC to JPG
Browsers cannot read HEIC natively, so the tool loads a HEIC decoder in your browser the moment you add such a file, decodes the photo on your device and writes a JPG at 92% quality, a level where the result is visually the same as the original. The JPG is usually larger than the HEIC because JPG compression is less efficient. If a HEIC file contains several images, for example a burst, each one becomes its own JPG with a numbered name. Location and camera data are removed, which is useful before posting photos publicly. Decoding HEIC takes a few seconds per photo.
How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Drop your HEIC files onto the upload area, click to browse, or paste an image with Ctrl+V. You can add many files at once, up to 80 MB each.
- In Convert to, JPG is already selected; you can switch between JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF at any time and the preview updates instantly.
- Adjust the Quality slider (default 92%) or switch to Target size and enter a limit in KB; the tool then finds the highest quality that fits.
- If needed, open Resize (exact size, maximum size or percentage) and More options for a DPI value and a file-name pattern.
- Compare the original and the result with the before/after slider, then download each file or click Download all (ZIP).
Tips for the best result
- Converting a big batch from your phone? Add them all at once and use Download all (ZIP) instead of saving files one by one.
- Uploading to a site with a size limit? Switch to Target size, or compress the JPGs afterwards with the image compressor.
- Need the photos as one document? Convert them here, then combine them with the image to PDF tool.
- Location and camera details (EXIF) are removed from every converted file, so the results are safe to post publicly.
Private, free and fast
The conversion runs entirely on your device: your browser loads a HEIC decoder only when you add such a file, reads the HEIC images, draws them on a canvas and encodes the JPG files locally. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so private photos and client work stay on your computer. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit, and settings changes are applied live to every file in the list.

Frequently asked questions
Why can't I open HEIC photos on Windows?
Windows needs an additional HEIF/HEVC extension to display HEIC. Converting to JPG avoids that and works on every device.
Does HEIC to JPG reduce quality?
The JPG is written at 92% quality by default, which is visually identical for normal viewing. You can raise it to 100% if you prefer.
Why is the JPG larger than the HEIC file?
HEIC uses more efficient HEVC compression, so the same photo takes more space as a JPG.
Can I stop my iPhone from saving HEIC?
Yes: Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible makes the camera save JPG. Existing photos still need converting.
Are my HEIC files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion happens in your browser on your own device, so your images never leave your computer. EXIF location and camera data are also removed from the results.
Can I convert several HEIC files at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many files as you like (up to 80 MB each); they are all converted with the same settings and you can download them one by one or together as a ZIP file.
