How to resize an image to 1366×768 online
What is 1366×768 (laptop HD)?
1366 × 768 was for about a decade the most common laptop screen resolution, found on countless 11- to 15.6-inch notebooks, and the native panel of many “HD Ready” TVs. It is close to 16:9 but not exact: 1366 ÷ 768 = 1.779, versus 1.778 for true 16:9. The odd width exists because panels were built from 1024 × 768 XGA lines widened to a widescreen shape.
At a glance: 1366 × 768 pixels, aspect ratio 16:9, 1,049,088 pixels in total (about 1.05 megapixels). The tool opens with exactly this size preset and the Fit with background mode selected, so most images need no extra settings.
How to resize an image to 1366×768
- Add your images. Drop them on the upload area, click to choose files or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG are accepted, many files at once (up to 80 MB each).
- Check the framing. The size is preset to 1366 × 768 with Fit with background: the whole picture stays visible and empty space is filled with white, black, light grey, any colour you pick or transparency (PNG, WebP). Prefer no borders? Switch to Crop to fill and choose which part to keep.
- Pick format and quality. Keep the original format or convert to JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. The quality slider starts at 90%; alternatively set a Target size in KB and the tool lowers only the quality, never the 1366×768 dimensions.
- Compare. Drag the before/after slider across the preview to check sharpness and framing.
- Download. Save each image, or click Download all (ZIP) for a batch. Files are named name-1366x768 automatically; the pattern and a DPI value can be changed under More options.

Images with a different aspect ratio
A 16:9 image (1920 × 1080, 1280 × 720, 4K) differs from 1366 × 768 by less than a pixel, so in the default Fit with background mode it fills the frame with no visible bars. 4:3 and portrait photos are another story: they keep bars at the sides, or lose part of the top and bottom with Crop to fill. For example, a 4:3 phone photo (4032 × 3024) set to 1366×768 with Crop to fill loses about 25% of its height (top and bottom edges); with Fit with background it becomes 1024 × 768 px with bars of about 171 px on the left and right.
Tips for a sharp 1366×768 result
For a laptop wallpaper, start from a 1920 × 1080 or larger image and scale down; enlarging a smaller picture to 1366 px looks soft on the screen. Remember that a browser on a 1366 × 768 laptop only shows around 1366 × 650 of the page once toolbars and the taskbar take their share, so keep key content of a hero image near the middle.
Free, private and made for batches
Everything happens in your browser: your images are never uploaded, location and camera data (EXIF) are removed from every result, and there is no sign-up, watermark or daily limit. Need a neighbouring size? Try 1600×900 or 1280×720; the 16:9 image resizer keeps any picture in the same proportions at a size you choose, and the image compressor shrinks the file further if a website or email still rejects it.
