About the Aspect Ratio Fixer
The Aspect Ratio Fixer puts a photo into the shape a platform asks for: a square for a shop listing, 16:9 for a YouTube thumbnail, 9:16 for a Story, 3:1 for an X header. Instead of cutting the picture, it can keep the whole photo and fill the empty space with a blurred copy of the image or a solid colour, the look you often see on Stories and product pages. Everything happens in your browser, so the photo is never uploaded.
How to change an image's aspect ratio without cropping
- Click Upload Image and choose a photo (any image your browser can open, such as JPG, PNG or WebP).
- Under Aspect Ratios, pick a preset or type a custom ratio. The social presets also set the output size in pixels, which you can change under Output Settings.
- To keep the whole picture, click Full Image under Composition Tools and set the fill mode to Contain. Leave it on Cover if trimming the edges is fine.
- In Advanced Settings, choose the background for the empty space: Blur or Color with any colour you like.
- Check the preview and click Download. The result is saved as a JPG.

The other presets set the shape: 4×6 photo prints (2:3 portrait and 3:2 landscape), square 1:1, panoramic 3:1, widescreen 16:9, desktop 16:10, ultrawide 21:9, cinema 2.35:1, tablet 4:3, modern phones 19.5:9, A4 and US Letter.
Crop or pad: which fill mode to use
Cover, the default, fills the frame and trims what sticks out, which suits photos with the subject in the middle. Contain scales the photo until all of it fits and leaves space that the background fills; use it for products, documents and group photos where the edges matter. Stretch and Fill force the image into the frame and distort it, so keep them for images that are almost the right shape already. When the picture is cropped, the nine alignment buttons choose which part is kept: the center, a side or a corner.
Tips for a clean result
- Auto-Enhance is on by default and adds a little contrast and brightness. Switch it off under Advanced Settings when colours must stay exactly as they are, for example in product photos.
- A blurred background looks natural on Stories and thumbnails; plain white is the usual choice for marketplace product photos.
- The download is always a JPG, which has no transparency, so choose Color rather than Transparent for the background.
- Need an exact size in pixels rather than a ratio? Use the custom image resizer, or the square image resizer for a plain 1:1 square.

How do I change the aspect ratio of an image without cropping?
Upload the photo, pick the ratio, click Full Image under Composition Tools and set the fill mode to Contain. The whole picture is scaled to fit and the empty space is filled with a blurred copy of the photo or a colour you choose. Then click Download.
What is an aspect ratio?
It is the proportion between the width and the height of an image. A 1920 × 1080 image is 16:9, a 1080 × 1080 image is 1:1. Changing the aspect ratio changes the shape of the picture, not only its size, so something has to be cropped or added.
Why does my photo get cropped?
The tool starts in Cover mode with Smart Crop on, which fills the frame and trims the parts that do not fit. To keep everything, click Full Image and switch the fill mode to Contain.
What aspect ratio does a YouTube thumbnail need?
16:9. The YouTube Thumbnail preset produces 1280 × 720 pixels, the size YouTube recommends for custom thumbnails.
Can I add a blurred background instead of white bars?
Yes. Blur is the default background: the empty space is filled with a stretched, blurred copy of your own photo. Choose Color under Advanced Settings for a solid colour such as white instead.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The image is processed with the canvas in your browser and never leaves your device.
What format is the result?
A JPG saved at high quality. JPG has no transparency, so pick a background colour if the frame has empty space.
