How to add text to a photo
Use this free tool to add text to an image in a few clicks. Write a caption, a quote, a title, a price or a copyright line on any photo, style it with fonts, colors and effects, and download the result at the photo's original size. Everything is done in your browser.
How to add text to a photo
- Click the upload area and choose your photo.
- Type your text. Use Enter for a new line, or add more text layers.
- Pick a font, size, color, bold or italic and an alignment.
- Choose one of nine positions, such as top center or bottom right.
- Add an effect or a background box, then click Download.
Text styles and effects
Choose from ten fonts: Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman, Georgia, Courier New, Verdana, Impact, Comic Sans, Brush Script and a script font. Set the size from 12 to 120 px (measured on the original photo), the color, bold or italic and left, center or right alignment.
Working effects include Shadow, Outline, Glow, 3D, Gradient and a Watermark look (faint, diagonal). Add a background box behind the text with its own color and opacity, padding and rounded corners, which keeps text readable on busy photos. Text opacity goes from 0 to 100 percent.

Start from a preset and edit it: Inspirational Quote, Photo Caption, Title Text, Watermark, Meme Text, Social Media, Announcement, Sale Banner and Event Text. Each preset sets the font, size, color, effect and position for you.

Tips for readable text on images
- Use an outline, a shadow or a background box when the photo is busy.
- Large photos need larger text: the size is in pixels of the original image.
- Leave space around the edges so social apps do not crop your text.
