How to use it: Scientific Calculator

This scientific calculator handles everything from everyday sums to trigonometry and logarithms. Type a whole expression like 2π × 3² ÷ 4 or sin(30) + log(100) and the answer appears as you type; press = to keep it and add it to the history.

It understands operator precedence and brackets, implicit multiplication such as 2π or 3(4+1), percentages, factorials (even of decimals), and the last answer as Ans. Switch between degrees and radians with one tap and use your keyboard for fast entry.

How to use it

  1. Type with the on-screen keys or your keyboard (numbers, + − × ÷ ^ ( ) ! %).
  2. Use the function keys for sin, cos, tan, their inverses, ln, log, √, ∛, eˣ and 10ˣ.
  3. Choose DEG or RAD for trigonometry.
  4. Press = or Enter; click a history entry to reuse it.

How it is calculated

Expressions follow the usual order of operations: brackets, then powers (evaluated right to left, so 2^3^2 = 512), then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. −2² is −4, as in standard mathematics.

Worked example

sin(30) in degree mode returns 0.5; switch to RAD and sin(π/2) returns 1. log(1000) is 3, ln(e²) is 2, 5! is 120 and √(16) + ∛(27) is 7. Typing 2(3+4)² gives 98, because the bracket is squared before multiplying.

Who uses it

  • Students doing algebra, trigonometry and physics homework
  • Engineers and technicians checking quick calculations
  • Exam practice when a physical calculator is not at hand
  • Anyone who needs more than a basic phone calculator

Tips

  • Check DEG/RAD before trig calculations: it is the most common source of wrong answers.
  • Use Ans to chain calculations without retyping the previous result.
  • Close brackets explicitly for clarity; missing closing brackets are added automatically at the end.

Free, private and instant: every calculation runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded or stored, and there is no sign-up or limit. Related calculators: fraction calculator, percentage calculator, grade calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use degrees instead of radians?

Tap DEG above the keypad. sin(90) then returns 1; in RAD mode use sin(π/2) for the same result.

How do I calculate a power or a root?

Use xʸ (or ^) for powers, x² for squares, √ for square roots and ∛ for cube roots. For other roots raise to a fraction, e.g. 32^(1/5) = 2.

What is the difference between log and ln?

log is the base-10 logarithm (log 100 = 2); ln is the natural logarithm with base e (ln e = 1).

Can I type with my keyboard?

Yes. Numbers and + − * / ^ ( ) ! % work directly; Enter calculates, Backspace deletes and Esc clears.

Is it accurate?

Results are computed in double precision and rounded to 14 significant digits, removing floating-point noise such as sin(180°) = 1.2e-16.

Is this calculator free and private?

Yes. It is completely free, needs no account and runs entirely in your browser, so the numbers you type are never sent to a server or stored.
