About Developer Tools
Quick tools for everyday coding
Testing a pattern before it goes into your code or creating IDs for test data should take seconds, not a new install. These free developer tools run in your browser, so the text you paste stays on your device.
Patterns and IDs
- Regular expressions: the regex tester highlights matches as you type and lists each match with its position and capture groups, using JavaScript regex syntax.
- Unique IDs: the UUID generator creates random v4 or time-based v1 UUIDs, up to 100 at once, in standard, uppercase, no-hyphen, braces or URN format.
Need to turn XML into JSON? Use the XML to JSON converter in the file conversion tools. To embed an image in HTML or CSS, the image to Base64 converter gives you a data URI.
Tips
- Escape special characters such as . * + ? with a backslash when you mean them literally in a regex.
- Prefer UUID v4 for anything public: a v1 UUID reveals when it was created.
- Test a regex on edge cases too: empty input, very long lines and unusual characters.
