About this tool
This video trimmer cuts the unwanted start and end off a video. Load an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, scrub the preview, and mark the part to keep with the slider, the time fields or the Set start here and Set end here buttons. The default fast mode copies the original video and audio streams without re-encoding, so even a long 4K clip is trimmed in seconds with no quality loss. Everything runs in your browser and the video is never uploaded.
How to trim a video
- Drop the video on the page or click to choose it.
- Play the preview, pause where the clip should begin and click Set start here. Do the same for the end.
- Fine tune with the slider or by typing times such as 0:12.5.
- Choose Fast, lossless or Precise (re-encode MP4).
- Click Trim video, watch the result and download it.

Tips
- Phone videos have a keyframe every second or two, so a fast cut usually starts within a second or two of your mark.
- Use precise mode when the first frame matters, for example a clip that must start on a spoken word.
- Trimmed but still too big to send? Run it through the video compressor.
- Only need the sound? Use MP4 to MP3, then turn the speech into text with speech to text.

Why does my trimmed clip start a little earlier than I chose?
A lossless cut has to begin on a keyframe, a full picture that the following frames depend on. Fast mode starts at the keyframe just before your start time. Choose Precise to start on the exact frame.
Which video formats can I trim?
MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM and MKV. Fast mode saves MP4, or WebM for WebM files. Precise mode always saves an MP4.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is read and trimmed in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
Is there a length or size limit?
