About this tool

This MP3 cutter is made for songs and podcasts. Keep only the chorus of a track, drop the long intro and sponsor read from a podcast episode, or turn a recorded talk into a shorter clip. Load the MP3, mark the part you want on the waveform and save it as a new MP3. All the work is done in your browser, so the file is never uploaded and there is no length limit beyond your device's memory.

How to cut an MP3

  1. Drop the MP3 on the page or click to choose it.
  2. Drag the left handle to where the clip should start and the right handle to where it should end.
  3. Click Play selection and adjust the times until the cut sounds right.
  4. Choose the bitrate: 192 kbps is the default and suits most music.
  5. Click Cut and save MP3 and download your clip.

Tips for songs and podcasts

  • For a song, start the cut on a beat: the tall peaks on the waveform are usually drum hits.
  • For a podcast, the silence before the host speaks is a flat line that is easy to spot.
  • Pick the same bitrate as the source or lower. Saving a 128 kbps MP3 at 320 kbps only makes the file bigger.
  • A 1 second fade out turns an abrupt stop into a clean ending.

No sign-up, no watermark, no upload. To get an MP3 out of a video first, use MP4 to MP3. To turn a podcast clip into a transcript, use speech to text.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cut an MP3 song?

Open the MP3 here, drag the handles to the part you want to keep, check it with Play selection and click Cut and save MP3. The new file downloads straight away.

Can I remove the intro from a podcast episode?

Yes. Move the start handle past the intro, leave the end handle at the end of the episode and save. Choose 128 kbps to keep a spoken episode small.

Will the cut MP3 lose quality?

The audio is encoded again, so pick the same bitrate as the original, or 192 kbps. For most listeners the difference cannot be heard.

Can I cut a long MP3 such as a 2 hour podcast?

Yes. The file is processed on your device, so the only limit is its memory. Laptops handle several hours of audio.

Is the MP3 uploaded anywhere?

No. Cutting and encoding happen in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

Can I save the clip as M4A or WAV instead?

Yes. Switch the format to M4A (AAC) for iPhone, or to WAV for editing in another app.
