How to make bold text on LinkedIn
This LinkedIn text formatter lets you make bold, italic, bold italic, strikethrough and underlined text for LinkedIn posts, plus bullet and numbered lists. LinkedIn has no bold button for posts, so the tool swaps your letters for Unicode letters that look bold or italic and stay that way when you paste them.
How to make bold text on LinkedIn
- Write or paste your post in the Post Content box.
- Select the words you want to stand out. With nothing selected, the style applies to the whole post.
- Click Bold, Italic, Bold italic, Strikethrough or Underline. Click Normal text to undo a style.
- Add a bullet or numbered list to the selected lines if you want one.
- Check the character count, then click Copy and paste the post into LinkedIn.
What the formatter can do
The style buttons change the selected letters into the Mathematical Sans Serif letters of Unicode: 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱, 𝘐𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤 and 𝘽𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙄𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙘. Bold also turns digits bold (𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲). Strikethrough and underline add a line through or under each character. Normal text turns any styled text back into plain letters, so you can change your mind at any time.
The list buttons put a bullet (•) or a number (1., 2., 3.) in front of every selected line and replace any marker that was already there. The Spacing option adds an empty line between lines that run together, which makes long posts much easier to read in the LinkedIn feed.
The statistics panel counts characters, hashtags, emojis and mentions for the platform you pick. LinkedIn allows 3,000 characters in a post and the counter turns yellow above 90 percent and red when you go over. The same post can be checked against the limits of Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok, and you can download the finished text as a TXT file.

Tips for formatting LinkedIn posts
- Bold the first line or one key phrase only. A whole post in bold is hard to read.
- Keep paragraphs to one or two short sentences and leave an empty line between them.
- Use a bullet list for steps, results or takeaways.
- Styled letters are read out letter by letter by some screen readers and are not found by LinkedIn search, so keep names, hashtags and key terms in plain text.
Everything happens in your browser. Your text is not sent anywhere, and the tool is free with no sign up.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make text bold on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn has no bold button for posts. Paste your post here, select the words, click Bold and copy the result into LinkedIn. The letters are Unicode bold characters, so they stay bold after you paste them.
Does bold text work in LinkedIn posts, comments and the About section?
Yes. The styled letters are normal Unicode characters, so they show as bold or italic anywhere LinkedIn accepts text, including posts, comments, your headline and the About section.
Why do some letters not turn bold?
Unicode only has bold and italic versions of the basic Latin letters A to Z and of digits (digits in bold only). Accented letters such as é, ñ or ç and non Latin scripts stay plain.
Can I undo bold or italic?
Yes. Select the styled text and click Normal text. It turns bold, italic, strikethrough and underlined text back into plain letters.
Is bold text bad for LinkedIn reach or accessibility?
LinkedIn search does not match styled letters to normal words and some screen readers read them letter by letter. Use bold for one line or phrase, and keep names, hashtags and keywords in plain text.
How long can a LinkedIn post be?
A LinkedIn post can have up to 3,000 characters. The counter in the statistics panel shows how many you have used and warns you above 90 percent and when you go over.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
No. The formatter runs entirely in your browser and your text never leaves your device.
